Bio
Brian is a member of the Research and Facilities Staff at the Department of Biochemical Engineering at UCL
After a PhD in the chemistry of aromatic nitration, and a short but exciting period working with high-pressure gases and supercritical fluids, Brian started working with microfluidics at the University of Hull with Prof Steve Haswell. This interest was maintained at the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Sheffield, as projects became more engineering-led, with a stronger emphasis on biological processes. It was almost inevitable that he would end up at this Department.
Current research interests include chemo-enzymatic microfluidic reactors, coupling chemical and biological process.
Brian is also the Departmental Safety Officer, and delivers the Eng D course “Microfluidic Tools for Synthetic Biology”
